Scope and Purpose
This standard applies to occupational exposure to carbon
disulfide in all places of employment. The largest amount of carbon
disulfide (approximately 70 percent) is used in the viscose
industry. Carbon disulfide is employed also in the manufacture of
carbon tetrachloride, as solvent and diluent in the rubber and
chemical industries, and as a pesti-· cide (for example, as a grain
fumigant and soil disinfectant).
