This standard does not apply to dust or fumes of metallic chromium, or chromium compounds in which the chromium is solely in the divalent or trivalent state.

Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to provide useful information for the control of exposures to chromic acid and other hexavalent chromates, for the evaluation of exposures to these materials, and for assistance in the design and operation of equipment for protection of the health of exposed workers.
